What’s an Embedded Peer Mentor?

Embedded Peer Mentors (EPMs) will be assigned to one or two developmental English courses per term. Based on English instructor guidance, EPMs will act as model students in the classroom and the Interdisciplinary Literacy Center, help facilitate small group discussions and clarify classroom activities. Additionally, EPMs might hold some break-out sessions with enrolled students each week to clarify class content, depending on need.

The ideal candidate for a paid position as Embedded Peer Mentor:

  • Have solid skills in reading and writing as demonstrated by an A or a B grade in English 1A or above.
  • Be willing to attend paid training sessions as scheduled.
  • Be available as scheduled to act as an Embedded Peer Mentor.
